Akashita Tsutomu (alt. Akashika Tsutomu) commanded 13 Independent Mixed Brigade in China when war broke out. He commanded 13 Division under 11 Army in western Hupei, China, in April 1943. His division participated in the I-Go offensive in 1944, fighting at Changsha and Kweilin.
