Long Beach (118.20W
33.76N) is located just east of San Pedro
in the greater Los Angeles
area. The airfield was Daugherty Field (118.15W
33.82N) and a naval hospital, capable of handilng over 2000 patients, was established here in 1942.

The port was the location of the Craig yard of Consolidated Steel, with a single long way for sideways launching that could lay down two C1 transports at a time.
