Pyongang (125.73E
39.010N) is a communications center with coal mines in the vicinity. There was
also a coking plant that produced a significant percentage of Japan's
coke for steelmaking.
In 1941 there
was an airstrip here, where the Japanese based 36 Ki-27 Nates of the 9 Air Regiment.
