Camp Beale (121.26W
39.12N) was an Army division camp established in the foothills of the Sierra
Nevada mountains in October 1942. In June 1944 the camp had an area of 86,364 acres
(34,950 hectares) and barracks for 2107 officers and 25,228 men. There was also a prisoner of war encampment nearby.
