Chemulpo (126.626E
37.494N), known today as Inchon, was a
poor port, plagued with extreme
tides. It derived its
importance from its
proximity to Seoul,
which was located some miles up the
Han River. It played a small role in the Pacific War, but would come to
the world's attention during the subsequent Korean War.
