Mehtlakahtla (131.572W
55.036N) was the southernmost airfield in the air bridge
from Puget Sound to Cold Bay. Activated in
September 1940, it was completed just as war broke out.
It is located at the southern end of the Alaskan "panhandle" and
is not to be confused with the Metlakahtla near Prince Rupert in British
Colombia, Canada.
