Milagra Ridge (122.479W 37.639N) was the location of a coast defense battery some 7 miles (11 km) south of San Francisco overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The Army acquired some 330 acres (134 hectares) of land here in 1942 and installed 2 6" coastal guns in barbettes. Plans for a battery of 2 16" guns were never carried out.
