Mulege (112.0W 26.9N) is located on a relatively fertile river valley on the east coast of Baja California. Manganese deposits were discovered here during the 1870's, and these were still being exploited by American mining interests at the time of the Pacific War. Production was about 32,000 tons in 1941.
