Yakutat (139.67W
59.51N) was an airfield
in the air bridge from Puget Sound
to Cold Bay that began construction in October 1940 and was completed
just as war broke out.
Facilities included two runways and aviation gasoline storage, and the Navy added a seaplane ramp. The base was shut down in June 1944 as the war had by then passed it by.
