Beresford-Peirse, Noel Monson de la Poer (1887-1953)

Beresford-Peirse commanded Western Desert Force in the abortive Battleaxe offensive of June 1941. Heavily criticized for his conduct of that operation, he was reassigned first to the Sudan and then to Southern Command in India, where he remained throughout most of the Pacific War.
