U.S. Navy. Via Francillon (1979).
The Mitsubishi Ha-102 was also known as the Army Type 1 radial or by the standardized designation Mitsubishi [Ha-31] 21. The Navy knew it as the Zuisei 21 but made no use of it operationally during the war. It was an air-cooled 14-cylinder double-row radial engine with a 140mm bore and 130mm stroke and a nominal power rating of 1080 horsepower (805 kW) for takeoff and 1055 horsepower (787 kW) at 9185 feet (2800 meters). It was essentially an Ha-26 with a two-stage supercharger. Variants of this engine were used on the Ki-46 "Dinah" and the Ki-57 "Topsy".
