Founded in 1892, Kamloops (120.34W 50.68N) is a rail junction located at the confluence of the North and South Thompson Rivers in western Canada. The name is derived from Kahm-o-loops, which in the local native American tongue means "meeting of the waters." The Brockhurst oil refinery was located here.
