Ku Chu-tung (Gu Zhutong) commanded the Kuomintang
3 War Area in December
1941.
Dorn (not always an objective observer) describes him as a brutal
political hack who was better at killing
Communists than the Japanese. He was responsible for
ordering an attack on New 4 Army in
January 1941, apparently acting on his own intiative rather than any
specific order from Chiang
Kai-shek.
