Matsuyama (132.710E 33.816N) is the largest city on Shikoku and the capital of Ehime Prefecture. It was a port and communications center and a producer of textiles, bamboo goods, food products, and chemicals. There was an airfield here in 1941 and the population was about 66,300 persons.
The city was bombed
on 26 July 1945 and 73% of the city was destroyed.
