Mawchi

The Mawchi mines (97.150E 18.817N) of eastern Burma supplied fully 10% of the world's supply of tungsten (3400 tons a year) or 35% of the British Empire's supply prior to the outbreak of war, along with considerable tin.

A battalion of 55 Division seized the mine from a company of Chinese defenders in the first week of April 1942.
