Mosan (129.269E 42.219N) was a rich iron ore deposit in northeast Korea. Production was around 1.7 million tons in 1941. Because the nearest coal deposits were in west Korea, across the mountainous spine of the peninsula, the ore was either shipped to Japan or processed in electrical furnaces at Chongjin.
