Otsu (135.87E 35.01N) is the capital city of Shiga Prefecture of Japan and is located on the shores of Lake Biwa near Kyoto. It was the seat of the Japanese imperial court in the 2nd and 7th centuries. Textiles are produced here.
The city was the headquarters of a regimental district
of 16
Division. It was also the location of a general
aviation school of the
Japanese Army.
