Shina (Shiina Masatake) commanded 20 Depot Division in Korea in September 1944 and was later given command of 124 Division under 5 Army. His division guarded the approaches to Mutanchiang. When the Russians rolled over the border on 9 August 1945, his division was shattered by 1 Red Banner Army almost at once.
