Tachishan (Dajishan; 114.364E
24.606N) is the center of a tungsten mining district in
southern China. This area had
been controlled by the Kiangsi Soviet prior to the Long March, and
the tungsten was an important source of revenue for the early Chinese Communist
movement, allowing the Communists to bribe local warlords.
Production totaled about 8090 tons per year in Kiangsi province during the
Pacific War.
