Trengganu

Trengganu (103.090E 5.311N) was the center of an iron and manganese mining district on the northeast coast of Malaya. Although the ore was of rather low grade, production was over a million tons of iron and 25,000 tons of manganese in 1941. The Japanese, who could no longer obtain manganese ore from India once war broke out, ramped up production as much as possible.
