Yumen

Yumen (97.08E 40.29N), located along the Silk Road in western China, was the only producing oil field in China when war broke out in the Pacific. Because of wartime conditions, foreign equipment was unavailable and development took place entirely with local resources. Production reached 60,000 tons per year by 1944.
