The Vickers Class S cannon was based on the COW gun of the First World
War, rechambered for Vicker's 40mm naval cartridge. It had a long recoil action
and was fed from 15-round drum magazines. Designed as defensive
armament for bombers, it ended up
being used only in the tank buster
role.
