Da Nang (108.208E 16.065N) had a pronounced monsoon season, with a dry spring followed by a broiling summer and torrential autumn rains. Wedged into a narrow plain between the shore and coastal hills, it had a good harbor but limited facilities, supporting mainly coastal shipping traffic.
