Goodyear constructing dirigibles during the First World War, but it was not until 1939 that Goodyear Aircraft Corporation was organized with thirty employees. By 1942 the company had 35,000 employees and was manufacturing both dirigibles and F4U Corsairs at its Akron, Ohio, manufacturing facilities.
