Kallang (103.91E
1.36N) was an important airbase
on eastern Singapore Island.
When war broke out, the airfield was equipped with radar and based 243
Squadron and the New Zealand
488 Squadron with
32 F2A3 Buffalo. This was the
largest concentration of fighter
strength in Malaya.
