Kao Shu-hsun (Gao Shuxun) commanded Kuomintang 69 Army when war broke out in the Pacific. He later commanded 39 Army Group during Ichi-go.
His forces were driven out of Hopei into western Shantung in January 1940, during one of the more serious clashes between Kuomintang and Chinese Communists prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor.
On 31 October 1945, Kao defected with 10,000 of his men to the Communists at the battle of Handan.
