The Solace was
completed as the SS Iroquois in
1927. She was purchased by the Navy and commissioned as a hospital ship
in 1941. She was present at Pearl
Harbor,
but her hospital markings were respected and she was left unharmed.
The famous film of the death of Arizona was taken from her decks.
