Takeshita was an intelligence officer with Kwantung Army at the time of the assassination of Chang Tso-lin and may have been involved in the conspiracy. He was likely also involved in smuggling operations meant to undermine Chinese currency reforms and fund a puppet Chinese government.
Takeshita commanded 27 Division in north China from November 1942.
