Vizagapatem (Vishakhapatnam; 83.30E
17.70N) was a small port in
southeast India, with less than nine berths in 1942. It was raided by aircraft from Ryujo
during the Indian Ocean raid
of April 1942, which inflicted scant damage. One bomb hit the munitions ship Marine Maller but failed to
explode, sparing the 2000 tons of explosives
on board.
