Zibo (118.06E
36.78N) is a city and rail junction in northern China in the foothills near the base of the Shantung
(Zhandong) Peninsula. Formerly known as Linzi, the city was renamed Zibo in the 1920s as a contraction of Zichuan and Boshan, nearby coal mining districts.
The city was occupied by the Japanese in January 1938.
