The Acontius-class motor torpedo boat tenders were completed 1944-45. They were Maritime Commission standard C-1 cargo ships converted to naval auxiliaries by installing boat cradles on their forward decks under their 50-ton main booms, which were easily capable of lifting a 39-ton PT boat. None were lost during the war.
