Agartala

Agartala (91.28E 23.83N) was a rail junction in what is now Bangladesh. It was also the location of a forward RAF airfield during the Pacific War. Considered too vulnerable to Japanese attack from Burma in 1943, it was used for staging only. However, by mid-1944, the airfield was considered secure enough to base C-46 transports for air supply of two corps in the Burma campaign of that year.
