An able ship handler, Glenn Davis commanded battleship Washington through the Guadalcanal campaign, including
the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. He commanded a battleship division at
the time
of the New Georgia landings and throughout
the remainder of the war. He was a member of the Court of Inquiry that
concluded Halsey was
guilty of nonculpable errors of judgement in sailing into the path of a
typhoon.
