north of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Franciso Bay. When war
broke out, the airfield based 17
Transport Squadron, 20
Interceptor Group, and 4
Air Support Command with 25 C-47,
75 P-36 and 75 B-18. The base was also the point
of departure for the air bridge for B-17s headed to the Philippines.
