Itahana Giichi (1889-1961)

Itahana commanded 6 Air Division during most of the Pacific War. However, his division was caught by surprise and nearly annihilated at Wewak in August 1943 and he was relieved in disgrace the subsequent March. He commanded 2 Air Army in its final desperate months.
