Kikuchi Tomozo (1896-1988)

Kikuchi was the 45-year-old captain of the Hosho in 1941. An aviator and expert on torpedo bombers, he had previously held staff positions with various land-based naval air groups. He commanded the Zuikaku in 1943 and the Taiho in 1944 before being promoted to rear admiral in October 1944. He served in staff positions the remainder of the war.
