Lu Chung-lin (Lu Zhonglin) likely commanded Kuomintang Hopei-Chahar War
Area
in December 1941. He was a former minister of war and director-general
of courts-martial in the Kuomintang government who had led an energetic (if ultimately unsuccessfully) counterattack against the flank of the Japanese advance into Hopei in September 1937. His forces later clashed with Chinese Communist troops in Hopei, in January 1940.
