Port Dickson (101.804E 2.544N) was a port on the west coast of Malaya. 12 Indian Brigade, the Mayala general reserve, was stationed here when war broke out.
The port was the target of Operation ZIPPER, a British landing as a preliminary to the recapture of Singapore. Although the Japanese had announced their surrender
on 15 August 1945, the operation went forward on 9 September 1945
anyway. It was as well that there was no opposition; the landings were
a complete fiasco.
