Ban Masami (1893-1944)

Ban Masami was commander of Yubari when war broke out. He was given command of Ashigara on 25 September 1942  and of  Fuso on 23 February 1944. Promoted to rear admiral while still in command of Fuso, he perished with his ship at the Battle of Surigao Strait just ten days later.
