The Kinryu Maru
was a merchant ship of the Kokusai line built by Kawasaki at Kobe in 1938. She was converted to a
commerce raiding role at Kure just
before war broke out, and was with Wake
Invasion Force when war came. Here, as on many other occasions
throughout her career, she was used as a transport. She was sunk by aircraft on 25
August 1942 north of Guadalcanal
while on transport duty.
