The Pasigs were Maritime Commission T2-SE-A2
tankers converted to distilling
ships in 1944. They could produce 120,000 gallons of fresh water per
day, but often obtained fresh water from natural sources to save fuel.
(Distillation is a very energy-intensive process.)
