Shimokobe commanded 23 Independent Mixed Brigade at Kwangchowan, Liuchow peninsula, China in April 1944. The division moved to Hainan in January 1945. His army was crushed by 1 Banner Army almost from the first day of the Russian offensive, 9 August 1945.
