Li Mi commanded 8 Army during the latter part of the Pacific War. Following the defeat of the Kuomintang in the Chinese Civil War, he was alleged to have organized a guerrilla army in the Golden Triangle (intersection of Burma, Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos) that terrorized the local population and built up the opium trade.
