Kira Sunichi (1889-1947)

Kira was the first Japanese aviator to land on the Hosho, in March 1923.  He was a 52-year-old rear admiral in command of 12 Air Flotilla based at Kure in December 1941. Given command of 22 Air Flotilla in May 1942, he was promoted to vice admiral in 1943 and attached to the Naval General Staff in 1944.
