The Auks were completed in 1942-45. A few were given special machinery to facilitate sweeping of magnetic mines; these are sometimes listed separately as the Raven class. All had significant antisubmarine capability and were routinely deployed as escorts, particularly when turned over to the British as Lend-Lease. They were capable of laying mines as well as sweeping them.
