The Bathursts
were minesweeper corvettes constructed
from 1941 on in Australian
shipyards. About 60 of these
corvettes were eventually constructed, 20 of which went to the
Admiralty (with Australian crews), six of which went to the Royal Indian Navy, and the remainder of
which were retained by the Royal Australian Navy. They were versatile
ships used for minesweeping, patrolling, and escort.
