The Admirables were completed in 1943-45. They were a simplification of the Auk design meant to facilitate mass production, and 125 were completed during the war. The resulting design had no mine laying capability but retained a significant antisubmarine armament. They were very handy boats with excellent sea-keeping, which made them the basis for the PCE-827 class.

A number of these ships were transferred to the Soviet Union at the Aleutians in 1945 as Lend-Lease.
